Hunched over our laptop on deadlines, a tough gym class or the dreaded phone scroll neck all can leave us stiff and sore at the end of the day. Getting into bed with aching muscles or a cricked neck ruins the chance of our beauty sleep. So, take 10 minutes at the end of your day to relax your body with these calming stretches.

Neck Stretch

  1. Sit straight or stand
  2. Gently bring your right ear towards your right shoulder until you feel the stretch in the left side of your neck
  3. Maintain the stretched position for 10 seconds
  4. Slowly lift your head back to the central position
  5. Repeat the stretch for the left side
  6. Repeat two to four times

Lower Back Stretch

  1. Sit on the floor with your legs spread apart as far as is comfortable with your knees straight but not locked out.
  2. Rest both your hands on your right knee
  3. Slowly reach your hands toward your right ankle and lower the forehead to the knee as much as is comfortable
  4. Hold the stretch at that position for 20 seconds
  5. Slowly return to your central position.
  6. Repeat the stretch for the left side
  7. Repeat the stretch 5 times per side

Child's Pose

  1. Kneel on the floor with your arms at your shoulders
  2. Knees should be hip-width apart while your big toes touch each other
  3. Stretch the arms long in front of the body and place your hands palm down on the floor
  4. Put your forehead flat on the ground
  5. Sink your chest to the floor with every breath out
  6. Close your eyes and take steady deep breaths for 30-60 seconds
