Worth it or not is our series where we spend our hard earned money and give you the most honest review out there.
You know when you have a craving for something sweet, but not just let’s eat chocolate sweet, fancy sweet, bougie sweet and a little effort made sweet. So after a quick search of Google, off we trotted to Brix Café.
It’s not often that we write about a café. Mostly because the cafés we consider worthy are few and far between, which is wild when you think about how many there are but we have high standards so ya know when we recommend something, we RECOMMEND it. And honestly, 100% recommend Brix.
Who They Are
Brix Café is tucked into Jumeirah Fishing Harbour, alongside some other lovely local independent brands, next door to Bordomavi (a Michelin recognised seafood restaurant) and 3Fils (a Michelin Bib Gourmand and one of MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants) so it’s in good company before you’ve even stepped in. Outside it faces the harbour so it’s got a perfect view of the sea and of the jet skiers as the sun begins to set which is lush. It would be even better to sit outside but as it’s currently hitting 47° that is a hard pass.
Brix Café is the chill sister of Brix Journey, the desserts only tasting restaurant where the fine dining is added to with storytelling and a multi sensory experience. We only found out about this when researching for this article so you can bet your butt we are going to be heading to that also. The coffee menu is also good enough for your friend who’s a coffee snob, alongside the usual there’s single origin on drip through V60, Chemex or AeroPress with beans from Yemen, Ethiopia, Costa Rica or a barrel-aged Vietnamese.
What We Ordered
The best thing about being in a group is you get to sample everyone else’s choice, and for once, each person preferred their own to the rest of the table. We got:
Chocolate Volcano (55 AED) molten fondant with a ganache core, almond tuile on top, Madagascar vanilla ice cream alongside. Exactly what you imagine it should be like, rich, chocolatey, not too heavy.
Snickers (39 AED) peanut praline mousse, salted caramel, chocolate sponge, peanut crunch, all wrapped in a chocolate ring. Tastes exactly like a rich aunt should taste like.
Marguerite (40 AED) yogurt mousse over a mango and passionfruit insert, basil sponge underneath, hazelnut crunch base, mango passion glaze on top. The basil is a surprising but perfect addition to mango and no pesto vibes.

To drink: a single espresso (18 AED), an iced Spanish latte (35 AED), and a peach iced tea (28 AED). The first two are self explanatory but the iced tea deserves a little credit, Earl Grey and peach green tea with elderflower and lemongrass, which is a lot more effort than peach iced tea usually gets.
Total damage: 215 AED, about $59, for three plated desserts and three drinks.
The Added Extras
Our definition of good service is service you never actually notice. It just happens around you, perfectly. It’s actually far harder than it sounds and we see more bad service than good. These guys managed to nail it, which for a cafe, is a tall order. The whole team has good energy, they are attentive without being pushy and it’s really just a nice experience.
Worth knowing: they don’t take reservations, and they’re open 7am to 11:30pm.
So, worth it?
Yes. Undoubtedly so, which almost never happens. We honestly can’t fault anything, and we’re savage when it comes to reviews. The desserts are all good enough to eat again but the menu is big enough there’s still a lot to sample. They also do breakfast, lunch and pizza evenings which sound absolutely delightful.
