If you're after stunning marina views and a dining experience that feels very Dubai, City Social Dubai is your next weekend reservation. Perched up in the clouds at the Grosvenor House, this restaurant offers a mix of sleek interiors, a relaxed but not too quiet atmosphere, and some seriously impressive service.

The Vibe: Cool, Contemporary, and Classy

From the moment you walk in, it’s all about over the top elegance. Modern, clean lined decor with floor-to-ceiling windows show off Dubai’s glittering skyline. You’ll want to grab a drink at the bar first, where they have a DJ playing, sample a few cocktails (they have a great menu but if you want something specific, they have no issue making it for you), and maybe/definitely snap a skyline selfie.

One of the most impressive things about the space is how it seamlessly blends intimacy with spectacle. Despite its lofty height and expansive views, the restaurant feels cozy, almost like a private members’ club. The lighting is low and warm, adding to that exclusive ambiance without feeling overly formal.

City Social manages to strike a perfect balance between elegance and a relaxed vibe.

The Food: Refined but Never Fussy

The menu? This is where the vibe is let down in our opinion. The dishes look amazing but lack flavour, texture and overall experience. The fish and chips leaves a lot to be desired with the fish soggy and the chips from a packet. The ceviche lacks flavour and seasoning and the sides feel a bit of an afterthought.

While the menu leans towards the finer side of dining, there’s nothing stuffy about it. Portions are generous enough to satisfy, and there’s a clear emphasis on seasonal ingredients, and the dishes change frequently enough to keep things interesting, but you’ll always find a few signature items that never leave the menu.

The Drinks: Cocktails with a Twist

No review of City Social would be complete without a nod to the bar. Whether you’re a classic martini lover or a fan of something more experimental, the cocktail list here does not disappoint. The mixologists behind the bar are serious about their craft, offering a creative selection of drinks that feel as elevated as the food. Opt for one of their signature cocktails with an unexpected twist—like a negroni infused with coffee or a citrusy gin concoction—and you’ll be impressed by the attention to detail. Wine lovers won’t be disappointed either, with a carefully curated list that spans old-world classics and new-world gems.

The Atmosphere: Sophisticated, but Not Too Serious

Despite its upscale appearance, City Social manages to strike a perfect balance between elegance and a relaxed vibe. The service is one of the best standards we've experienced yet the staff remain approachable, and seem genuinely invested in making sure you have a great time. No snooty waiters here, just people who know the menu inside and out and are happy to help you navigate it with recommendations that feel personal.

One of the things that makes City Social stand out is the fact that it feels like an experience, not just a meal. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you can truly savour the experience, each sip of wine, and each conversation against the backdrop of one of the most spectacular skylines in the world.

Final Thoughts: A Perfect Location With Some Updates

We absolutely love the view, the vibes and the staff, if the food had some improvements then it would be a regular favourite without a doubt. Unfortunately without that, its just not something that we would return to.
